In 2007 there was only one car club in Monterey for pre 1972 American Muscle Cars. That club, Gold Coast Rods had been around for many years and had a limit of 100 members. Having been a past member of Gold Coast Rods I felt the Monterey area needed another car club so that car enthusiast had a choice. In 2007 the work was started to create a new Hot Rod Club for the Monterey area.
The club name, Rats To Riches came from the diverse cars that I knew would join the club. It was also directed at a car that will remain unnamed that frankly, was a Rat. I knew this car would join and I knew that there were 6-figure cars that would join as well. Thus, Rats To Riches. It doesn’t matter what your car looks like, all are welcome.
Rats To Riches is incorporated and is an official non-profit, 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Our club enjoys giving back to the community through monetary donations to worthy recipients. This opportunity is accomplished through our car shows and by our sponsors and supporters. We THANK them very much!
